Thrusting Vessels
Breath Technique
This is a very simple breath technique that activates the thrusting vessels.

Technique
1) Hold your right nostril closed with the thumb of your right hand.
2) Inhale through your left nostril, and - with your attention and your inhale - guide the air down your left thrusting vessel... down through the major organs at center-left, through testicle/ovary, to the top of the femur. This should be done in one smooth and gentle inhale.
(NOTE: A later progression is to breathe all the way down through to the bottom of the foot.)
3) Close your left nostril with the fingers of your right hand (now both are closed), and gently hold your breath for several (2-5) seconds. It is very important that you gently hold your breath, that you relax into this breath-holding. The relaxation is what allows the alchemy with the air to occur.
4) Exhale through your mouth. In addition to activating, nourishing, the vessels with pure air, often tension will be released from within the thrusting vessel. This tension/heat is most effectively exhaled through the mouth.
Breath normally for (at least) several breaths. Repeat 1-4 with the other nostril, other thrusting vessel.
Comments
While this technique does activate the thrusting vessels, it doesn't do anything to prompt interaction between the thrusting vessels and the core vessel. Include something for that, such as the Thrusting Vessels Meditation, at your convenience. Yi Swallows Chi can also greatly assist in opening the unifying core vessel. Again, either (or whatever else you may take up) when it feels right within your practice routine - and personal alchemy.
