The Three Amigos
of rooting!
2. Squats
These three exercises form an effective rooting routine: physical warm-up through energetics.
I suggest that, when you are first approaching The Three Amigos, that you emphasize #1 for a week or two, then #2 for same, then #3. Once you've gained familiarity with each, they are best combined in sequence (optional finish of cycling through 2&3).
in brief -
These exercises build upon each other: Ankle rotations prompt earth connection and jing activation (acupoints at the ankles), through to the joints-bones. Squats continue that work, inclusive of the knees and hips, and engage the lower tan tien through muscular work of the upper legs. K1 breathing ties it all together energetically: lower tan tien ~ earth, allowing the energetics through the physical layers that've already been warmed up. (An optional finish of cycling through dynamic squats and static K1 breathing further blends the physical and energetics.)
The Three Amigos! can be used as an entire major practice (which I suggest, at least in the beginning), or as a concise leg & rooting warm-up. They provide a basis that will serve you well.
The simplicity of this set is a cover for its targeted and comprehensive work of layers: the resulting lower tan tien ~ earth connection runs deep. You get a lot for a little, here.
